VDC (Virtual Design and Construction)
VDC stands for virtual design and construction, and is literally exactly what it says. Historically, lots of time and money has been spent solving problems post fabrication, in the field. VDC is the answer to that problem.
This means of coordination is widely accepted in the construction industry, and has become the baseline in high-end construction applications, whether the built space is new or renovated or restored. Observation suggests this will be the norm in construction in just a few years.
Benefits of VDC
- Earlier project scheduling capabilities
- Reduce rework
- Clash detection
- Proactive safety planning
- Cultivate communication and coordination across multiple disciplines
- Design, feasibility and sustainability analytics
- Common data environment
- Pre-construction project visualization
How we engage
On behalf of subcontractors: Leverage PMC’s strong modeling capabilities to submit coordinated 3D changes in accordance with BIM standards and execution plans.
On behalf of general contractors and construction managers: PMC will produce, present and manage issue reports at regularly scheduled coordination meetings.
On behalf of owners and developers: PMC demands transparency and communication during the construction process. Accurate virtual deliverables at facility commissioning is the key to success in management and operations.
