Industrial Engineer (Dearborn, MI): Responsibilities include: Developing the most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information and energy to make a product or service. Analyzing existing operations and proposing continuous improvements (CI). Optimizing layout, including safety, floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment. Identifying opportunities and leading process improvement projects to drive cost savings. Researching new methods in Industrial Engineering for the application. Using discrete event and continuous simulation modeling tools and statistical methods to optimize operations and design production planning and control systems for manufacturing, supply chain and service industry. Creating sampling procedure and designs, helping to improve ways to distribute goods and services. Developing standard operating procedures. Developing, planning, evaluating and recommending efficient solutions for difficult problems related to materials handling systems. Developing and applying lean material strategies to design standards. Conducting facility and process design reviews to achieve improved methods, layouts and workflows. Developing most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service. Developing layouts, design documents, equipment specifications and data sheets, inquiry and purchase requisitions, pre-bid meetings, technical evaluations, kick-off meetings, vendor data review, simulation studies and field evaluation and verification. Using tools such as Arena, ProModel, Simul8, and WITNESS as well as lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Visual Management, SMED, Standard Work, TPM, Kanban, and Theory of constraints. Studying techniques such as stopwatch time study and MODAPTS. Qualified applicants will have an M.S. in Industrial Engineering plus 1 year of professional experience and/or as a Gradate Research Assistant. Academic program or experience must have included: Arena; Value Stream Mapping (VSM); Simulink; Visio; and Process Simulator. 40 hrs/wk. 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. $80,246/year.
