A major strength of discrete event simulation is its ability to model random events and to predict the effects of the complex interactions between these events.  Process simulation, now used to great operational and economic advantage in many endeavors, achieved its first successes in manufacturing, where it continues to be widely used.  A PMC technical specialist with 35 years' experience applying simulation to manufacturing operations will describe three simulation projects and the economic benefits they achieved. A simulation model and its analyses can be living documents of value to the organization over a very long life span.
