Model Accuracy
To be a truly useful decision making tool, a simulation model needs to be accurate. The AutoMod™ suite of simulation tools provides an environment for building highly accurate models for analysis and development, as well as for control system emulation.
AutoMod includes easy to use templates to accurately model material movement systems, including conveyor, lift truck, operator, automated vehicle, overhead crane, power and free, ASRS, and any kinematic device. These templates accelerate model construction and give the user unlimited flexibility to accurately model existing systems, or design new systems.
AutoMod models are also graphically accurate. All work is built to scale in AutoMod, with Virtual Reality graphical animation helping to validate the model and communicate the design visually. A “picture is worth a thousand words”, and AutoMod’s VR grahics significantly reduces the number of words required to communicate a system design.
Virtual Reality 3-D Graphics
AutoMod provides true to scale 3-D virtual reality animation, making simulation models easy to understand, graphically appealing, and valuable as a communication tool for presenting new ideas and alternatives. A realistic depiction of the operation, using a 3-D animated model, dramatically improves communication and consensus.
AutoMod uses CAD-like features to define the physical layout of manufacturing, material handling, processing, and distribution systems. Unlike most other simulation tools, AutoMod’s powerful graphical interface accurately captures the physical constraints of distance, size and space in three dimensions.
Material Handling
AutoMod provides the user with a set of material handling system templates (movement systems) that have been developed with real-world experience in industrial automation. Using these movement systems, a substantial portion of the underlying model is quickly and automatically generated for the user. AutoMod movement systems include:
- Conveyors - Accumulating, non-accumulating, roller, and belt conveyor systems.
- Power & Free - Similar to a conveyor system, but moves around to pick up loads rather than moving loads along a fixed conveyor. Generally consists of an overhead trolley with "dogs" (hooks hanging from the chain sections).
- AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) - One or more aisles of storage racks where Storage/Retrieval Machines (S/RMs) pick up and retrieve loads. Storage racks are arranged along parallel aisles; both sides of each aisle are served by a single S/RM.
- Path Based Movement – used to model vehicles that follow a defined path, such as automated guided vehicles, forklifts or trucks, semiconductor AMHS systems, or people moving along a path.
- Bridge Crane - A set of rails on which a crane moves over pickup and delivery (P&D) areas.
-
Kinematics – Used to create and animate any configurable device, such as turn tables, pick and place robots, automobile paint units, lifts and elevators to name a few.
Runtime License
With an AutoMod Runtime license, "what-if" scenarios can be performed on pre-built models. Users can change parameters, run models and view results in run-time mode. The addition of AutoStat to a Runtime license provides enhanced statistical analysis capability in run-time mode.
AutoMod also provides Academic Program for instructors and students
