As Computer Aided Design replaced the drafting board, so Laser Scanning has replaced manual field measurement. The core group at EVS has been utilizing Laser Scanning to complete their 3D models since 2002. EVS first applied the technology to its everyday engineering for General Motors and then expanded the knowledge towards water pumping stations, waste water treatment facilities, government engineering, historical preservation, and reverse engineering practices. If you have a warehouse, factory, office, clinic, school, health-care facility, or any other kind of work environment, EVS has the capacity, tools, resources, and expertise to bring your project planning into the digital world and your company into the 21st century.
Depending on the environment, EVS brings in the best scanner for the job. The HDS3000 is a time-of-flight scanner and is advantageous when far distances must be captured. The HDS4500 is a phase based scanner and ideal for manufacturing facilities. The HDS6000 has been proven to be an all-purpose phase-based tool.
The scanner is placed on a tripod outside your work envelope and scans the area with a general radius of 50’-0” out and a scan scope of 360° horizontal by 270° vertical. The scan actually creates measurable CAD nodes that are brought into AutoCAD, and EVS generates the digital model from these points. The general accuracy in the point cloud is 4mm.
While modeling from the points, both multi-view images as well as Tru-View Panoramic images are used to see what the object looks like in real life. We can increase lighting intensity and contrast to improve the visibility of fine detail using these images as a resource.
The Multi-View 3D mosaic images as well as the Tru-View Panoramic images are a free byproduct of the scanner, as is the free viewer, and are included as a deliverable on every job to our clients. These tools drastically lower cost by reducing or even eliminating unnecessary and high-cost trips to the job site.
The 3D model provides a both visually and dimensionally accurate, digital version of your company's current facility or environment. From this you can create virtual scenarios for future program changes, retrofit your site to accommodate new equipment coming into your facility, capture and document existing conditions for future reference, document asset acquisition for inventory, and much more.
If you can think it – we can build it.
