Asprova Extensibility

Supporting worldwide standards for superb extensibility.
Asprova excels in extensibility and connectivity with other systems because it fully embraces the newest in standard technologies, including COM, VBA, OLE DB, and XML.

COM (Component Object Model)
COM is a Microsoft standard for component programming. If you make use of the COM interfaces provided by Asprova, you can develop programs that access or modify Asprova's internal data and extend Asprova's menus, scheduling logic and dialogs. These interfaces provide a high degree of flexibility to Asprova's scheduling system and enable safe and easy customization of Asprova's functionality by users and system integrators.

Extension Plug-in Collection
We have prepared a collection of plug-ins that provide various useful features that are not included in the standard features of Asprova. We provide these extension plug-ins for free, including the source code, which is written primarily in Visual Basic. By modifying the Visual Basic source code, you can easily make your own plug-ins that provide similar functionality and learn to make other plug-ins on your own. Features covered in the extension plug-ins include filtering lots on the lot Gantt chart, useful jump features, fixing all jobs within a lot, reloading individual tables, sending work instructions by e-mail, various search features, deleting completed lots, and displaying custom graphs.

OLE DB - ADSP (Asprova Data Source Provider)
While in earlier versions of Asprova master data could only be input or output via CSV text files, the ADSP feature now provides support for OLE DB (a Microsoft technology for accessing arbitrary databases), making it easy to link Asprova directly to nearly any data source, including Oracle, SQL Server, MDB files (Jet engine), and ODBC. Even when using CSV, the ADSP feature gives you the freedom to change the order of fields or increase the number of spec or num spec fields beyond the original limit of 4.

VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)
In August of 1999, Asprova Corporation became the first production scheduler in Japan to enter a VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) licensing agreement with Microsoft Corporation. Since the VBA integrated development environment is widely used in many other software packages such Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, customization of Asprova is easy for developers familiar with VBA from these applications. You can experience for yourself Asprova's high degree of customizability with the VBA included in Asprova's free trial version.

XML (Extensible Markup Language) - AsprovaTalk
XML is a widely-acclaimed data format which promises to be the future worldwide standard for data exchange. Asprova natively supports input and output of data in XML format, and in conjunction with the AsprovaTalk Server can exchange XML data with multiple clients over a network. Using these features, you can enter new orders into a running instance of Asprova, request work instructions, and enter results data in real time from remote clients, leading to dramatic improvements in business speed.
